Production Artist
Production Artists work closely with Art Directors, Creative Directors, and Graphic Designers to layout and execute concepts. They ensure that files are laid out, prepped, resized, proofed and optimized for pre-press or web. Production Artists are the creatives on a team who are finishing artwork and adapting it to multiple formats. They will manage and organize assets and execute breakouts, revisions or refinements to existing campaigns and set up templates. Production Artists may find themselves working on collateral assets such as brochures, advertisements, key art, packaging, outdoor billboards, banners, flyers and datasheets, presentations, social media, and posters.
Common requirements for Production Artists are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or relevant field
- High proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, and other Adobe Creative Suite applications
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Portfolio showing experience creating mechanicals for one-sheet, packaging, ads, and outdoor collateral
- Ability to visualize abstract concepts
Production Artists with a well-trained eye for detail along with a balance of creative and technical skillset makes them a crucial — and in-demand — part of any creative team. They hold a critical role on the team as they are the last person to finalize a project before its seen by the consumer
