Accounting Generalist
March 11, 2026on-goingTBDArtisan Creative is looking for an Accounting Generalist to join our in-house team on a full-time/remote basis. In this role, you will be working closely with our Controller on day-to-day tasks to support our internal operations and liaise with our talent, clients, and vendors.
Your responsibilities will include invoicing, accounts payable, payroll entry, setting up candidates in multiple states, and working with our HR management vendor. You will also update sales reports, translate processes into written procedures, and update our training library as procedures evolve.
This role will also include GL responsibility, bank reconciliations, financial statement reporting, and ensuring compliance with GAAP.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a small, entrepreneurial organization as a hands-on, versatile generalist with a diverse range of skills. If you are a self-starter, logical thinker, enjoy problem-solving, can manage multiple moving parts, understand both complex and simple processes, are adaptable to change, have excellent communication skills, and can hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you! Experience in working with a database (we use Bullhorn) is a plus. Experience with CA state and US federal regulations is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with Invoicing and Payroll Administration
- Proficient in QB Desktop Pro Plus 2022
- Proficient in Excel
- Familiarity with external payroll processing – ideally Paylocity
- Experience working with Databases and Applicant Tracking Systems -ideally Bullhorn
- Experience working with staffing agencies a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Comfortable working independently
- Familiarity with CA state and federal labor laws
- Experience working with small, entrepreneurial companies is a must
Responsibilities
- Ensure timely processing of weekly payroll and invoicing, including PO tracking
- Updating CRM relative to invoicing and payroll
- Produce and maintain various Excel spreadsheets
- Oversee new employee onboarding and I-9 administration
- Vendor liaison for HR and Benefits Administration
- Accounts payable
- Sales Tax returns
- Cloud file maintenance
- Process and submit weekly 401k deferrals
- Establish Artisan as an employer in various states as needed
- Calculate monthly commissions
- Prepare and submit annual business insurance applications
- Issue annual 1099 NEC’s
Additional Potential Responsibilities as needed: Recruitment team support
- Initiating talent registrations
- Liaising with talent on availability
- Maintaining email inbox
- Updating biweekly email newsletter
- Experience with Mailchimp or similar is a plus
- Website maintenance experience is a plus
